Will the Messygrinch Steal Earth
Day?
Every Boo
Down in Boo-ville
Liked yardwork a lot.
But the Messygrinch
Who lived on Mount Messy
Did NOT!
(The Boos in Boo-ville kept their yards nice and neat.
Mowing and pruning were such a treat.)
Messygrinch loathed yard work
the Spring, Summer, Fall seasons.
Now please don't ask why.
No one quite knows the reasons.
It could be his head wasn't screwed on quite right.
It could be, perhaps, that his shoes were too tight.
But I think that the most likely reason of all,
May have been that his brain was two sizes too small.
But whatever the reason,
His brain or his shoes,
He stood on his mountain, hating the Boos.
Staring down from Mount Messy with a Messygrinch frown,
At the Boos down in Boo-ville Spring-cleaning their town.
"Neighbors think my yard a mess
They can't tell me no or yes
Golf carts, boat and bar-B-que
These may seem like junk to you."
Now the Grand Petalumph
and the Bimbo of Loo
sat sharing a pizza
with nothing to do.
Petalumph: 'We'd like it cleaned up
Is that too much to ask?
We want to be proud
of Boo-ville at last."
Messygrinch: "Why do you just pick on me
Why can't you just let me be?
Why do you just pick on us
I just don't see what is the fuss."
For the crime of Messy they would take him to court.
"I must stop their hard work", he was heard to
retort.
"For months and months I've put up with it now
I must stop them from winning,
....But HOW?"
Then he got an idea to foil everyone
He did it that day--under the hot sun
(The Boos were all stunned)
He chortled and laughed: I'll do it this day
All the Boos here in Boo-ville must pay.
He grabbed his tools with a gleam in his eye,
"I'll build a wall, and I'll build it high!"
I will build a wall, I will.
Then I can keep my mess, yes, still
I will build myself a wall.
I will build it very tall.
I will build it with my hand.
And show all Boos the better man.
If I put this behind my wall
Than I can keep it all.
I must keep this old gas grill
I may want to use it still.
I must keep these 5 golf carts
Even if they do not start.
I cannot move my camper cap.
Should this give me such a bad rap?
I must keep my pontoon boat
Even if it doesn't float.
The front-end loader will remain.
Get used to it, it stays the same.
Why do you just pick on me?
Why don't you just let me be?
Why do you just pick on us,
I just don't see what is the fuss.
Petalumph to Messygrinch: Why can't you just cut the grass?
It is now a home for rats.
Fire Chief Miller: Remove the wall and clean it all
Should fire break you'll our path you'll stall.
Petalumph to Building Inspector Staley: You
must look behind the wall
for trash and junk, to see it all.
Staley: I cannot look behind the wall
I cannot do anything at all.
Messygrinch: The mess will stay. It will not
quit.
Judge: Can't we just be done with it?
Fight, fight, fight. One month then two.
There'll be a war in Boo-ville,
Yes, a Battle of Boo.
Messygrinch: No one tells me what to do
I will build a wall or two."
Now you can't see the mess I made
As I sit here in the shade.
Judge to Messygrinch: We ask that you clean up the debris
By the first of May, if you please.
Now all the Boos down here and the Boos down there
Would show Messygrinch that they all care
They climbed Mount Messy one bright afternoon
In hopes that Messygrinch would change his tune
They mowed all around and picked up debris
Hoping that Messygrinch would see
On this Earth Day they all did their part
For every Boo in Boo-ville had a big heart!
MORAL OF STORY:
So if you live in Boo-ville
And you know if you do
Clean up your yards
And be kind to all Boos
Be kind to ALL Boos,
and Mother Earth too!
