About SAHS... SPAFFORD AREA HISTORICAL SOCIETY Founded 1987, Chartered 1988 Purpose: To promote and encourage original historical research. To disseminate and encourage a greater knowledge of the history of New York State, particularly the Town of Spafford and its environs. To gather, preserve, display and make available for study, artifacts, relics, books, manuscripts, papers, photographs and other records and materials relating to the history of the State of New York, particularly of the Town of Spafford and its environs. Encourage the suitable marking of places of historic interest, and to acquire by purchase, gift, devise or otherwise the title to or the custody and control of historic sites and structures, and preserve and maintain such sites and structures. Membership: Open to any interested persons or organization. A fee schedule is posted on the Newsletters page. Meetings are held the second Wednesday of each
month, at the Spafford Town Hall, on NYS Rt. 174, at 7:30 pm (unless
otherwise announced in our Newsletter). Everyone is welcome and there is
no charge. Town of Spafford Historian: Barbara Shoemaker 315-636-7700 or 607-749-2086. Spafford Area Historical Society currently owns and supports two buildings: Building # 1 is the Spafford District #3 "Side Hill" School. Building #2 is the Grange Building (formerly 1272 Borodino Grange)
