In defense of Lieberman
To the editor:
Referring to a letter to the editor in your Sept.28 issue by Mary Bean:
I believe her remarks to be not only unkind, but generally inaccurate.
I have known Ken Lieberman as a neighbor for more than seven years. He has been a person of endless energy, watching him spearhead the questf or cable ~ service in our area; spend ‘countless hours searching out water leaks on Mountain Glen Water Co., almost singlehandedly repairing potholes on Olanco Road. I believe it is this kind of energy and enthusiasm that makes Ken an outstanding candidate for public service. Not at all the picture Ms. Bean tries to paint.
There have been many letters written recently, lamenting the lack of willingness to change things in Spafford. I submit that most of the residents are here because they like Spafford. I don’t feel that additional restrictions and zoning changes are what Spafford needs to stay rural and beautiful. Existing rules and regulations have kept Spafford the way it is. Changing an owner’s ability to do as they wish with then’ property, as long as they stay within existing statutes, is not the way to make Spafford better.
I hope the elected and re-elected folks will remember that we are neighbors first, and should try a little harder to remain civil to each other. That would go a long way toward keeping Spafford a great place to live.
