SPEED LIMIT WON'T CHANGE, DOT TELLS SPAFFORD BOARD

The state Department of Transportation rejected the Spafford Town Board's request for lower speed limits on Route 41.

In a letter to the town, DOT official John Fietze wrote that "existing roadside development and highway characteristics justify retaining the existing speed limit." The board in August also passed a resolution requesting that trash trucks take interstate highways to the Seneca Meadows landfill, not highways near the Skaneateles Lake watershed.
