Hemlock Hike Saturday February 27, 2010

Experience the winter beauty of the forested ravine along Bear Swamp Creek, as we take a close look at the local hemlock trees that line the hillside. Mark Whitmore, Forest Entomologist at Cornell University will provide an overview about the threats posed by the hemlock wooly adelgid and demonstrate how to inspect trees for this destructive insect.  Hikers will also take a guided hike down the "Jug Path" which links the upstream Carpenter Falls, to the lower waterfalls and cascades created by Bear Swamp Creek as it makes its way down to the lakeshore.
