Gerard Marcheterre has been a volunteer member of the Borodino
Fire Department since April 1997. He has completed First Aid and CPR (for AED Heartsaver defibrillator) from the
National Safety Council. He has received his
Fire Training Certificate, 42 hours of instruction, and attends an 8-hour OSHA Refresher workshop
every year. He says he also has to have an annual physical and hepatitis test and boosters.
He attends 6 practices and 6 business meetings a year. The 2nd Monday of every month is a practice.
Gerard says that they desperately need volunteers for both fire departments. They have approximately 27 volunteers, but this
number has been declining in recent years. It can be challenging to interest younger people, who are very busy with their
lives. Those interested in learning more about volunteering, should contact
Jerry Schinaman at (315) 673-9869.
