Welcome to the Borodino Bullett Online Newsletter.  Unofficial (sometimes irreverent) Voice for an area of Central New York that almost no one knows exists ... but we're working to change that.

WHERE THE HECK IS BORODINO?
Borodino is a hamlet nestled between two lakes-- Otisco and Skaneateles. The Bullett website serves the residents of the Town of Spafford, and surrounding areas.

AUGUST TOWN BOARD MEETING

SUMMER EVENTS AROUND TOWN
August 13th, Wednesday - Spafford Area Historical Society monthly meeting and program. Speaker will be Milton C. Sernett. "New York State's Freedom Trail" - 7:30 PM at the Grange building on Route 41 in Borodino.

August 12th La Fayette Concert Band in the evening in Borodino Park. This is a free event sponsored by SAHS.

August 16th Marcellus Duck Derby - Curt Ledermann would love to sell you a $5 raffle ticket if you call 315.673.2186. There are great prizes this year.

UPDATE: SPAFFORD VETERANS MEMORIAL 
It has been reported that over $2500 has been raised so far to bolster the coffers of the Spafford Veterans Memorial Park Fund, from fund-raising letters sent to property-owners in the Town of Spafford. Over $1700 was raised from Ryan Phillips' Slalom Ski of Skaneateles Lake on August 2nd. The committee will meet soon to begin plans to begin the next phase, and prepare to install the two granite benches. Many thanks to all those who gave. It is heartening to see the community come together for such a worthwhile project.

BUSINESS TO OPEN IN DOWNTOWN BORODINO
Martin Collard, husband of Brenda Collard (Brenda's Amazing Oddities & Curiosities)  has announced the Grand Opening of Borodino Scale Line - the Craftsman's Model Railroad Supply -on September 6th, from Noon to 8 PM.  Borodino Scale Line specializes in scenery materials, their  own Borodino Scale Line products, and more! SPAFFORD LADIES AUXILLARY TO SPONSOR A BENEFIT JAMBOREE
There will be a benefit jamboree for Phyllis Filkins, a cancer patient, on Sunday, August 24th from 12:00 pm to 6:00 pm at the Spafford Firehouse, 660 Rt. 41 in Spafford. All contributions go to help pay medical expenses. Anyone wishing to donate door prizes please call Rose Clark at 607-749-2753, or e-mail her at grandma12241@hotmail.com.

SPAFFORD F.D. ANNOUNCES HARLEY WINNER
Spafford Fire Department's third annual Harley Raffle and party was a huge success. Held again at the Marcellus Fire Station, we had a bigger turnout than last years gala affair. Attending were about 250 ticket holders and their guests. This year's winner of the 2003 Harley Davidson 100th Anniversary special is Cindi Lansdowne of Tully. Rick Wise

SLALOM SKI OF SKANEATELES LAKE A SUCCESS
Over $1700 raised by Ryan Phillips' Slalom Ski of Skaneateles Lake. Thanks to Ryan Phillips, and Mary Marshall. Marcellus high school student, Ryan Phillips slalom skiied the length of Skaneateles Lake (16 miles) on the morning of August 2nd, starting at Glen Haven, and ending at the Skaneateles village dock. All proceeds benefit the Spafford Veterans Memorial Park fund. Donate $17 (or more) and receive a free commemorative t-shirt, silk-screened by local businessman, Brian Russell.  For more information, call Frank Moran at 315-673-3916.
