Welcome to the 10th issue of The Borodino Bullett Online
Newsletter. We are STILL The Unofficial and irreverant
voice for an area of Central New York that almost no one knows exists.
To
honor the lives of the innocent citizens who were killed in the attack
on our country, we proudly fly the American flag.
This letter was posted on Joe's Cafe, in regards to the
American flag painted at Fesko's Grocery:
'As the father of two
of the flag artists, I found it heartwarming to see the reaction of my
children to the horror of the attack on the World Trade center. They
took it upon themselves to show the area how they felt about their
country by decorating as best they could. They put up red, white and
blue ribbons, and when they were unable to buy more flags ,they made
on to proudly display on their own home. Painting a flag for all to
see was a natural progression for them. I would like to take this time
to say thank you to all who took part in this project. You all did a
fantastic job and deserve a pat on the back. Thanks
Stitches'
CLOSE CALL: FORMER
RESIDENT SHARES HIS STORY Dana Schramm shares his experience of the
morning of September 11th--' I was in NYC, at our NY office, next to the
NYSE, 3 blocks away from the towers, got caught outside in traffic, in a
Jeep with my assistant, Carolyn. We were trying to leave the city by going
towards the East River. She and I had to jump out of the Jeep (we left it
behind on the street and just ran), when the 1st tower collapsed...and
literally run for it. I've seen rock quarries dynamited...and let me
tell you...you ain't seen NOTHIN' like a 105 story building come
down!!!... And we were on the street, when the 2nd tower came down!

FROM THE INBOX:
CORRECTION
Dear Sir,
'I read your web site all of the time and find it very good.
I think it's a nice thing to do for small community's in our area of upstate
New York. I heard the chamber quartet on the 29th and thought it was very good.
I just wanted to add that I didn't see Kathy Chave's name as one of the people playing at your new gazebo.
I thought her being and wanting to play for you was a nice thing to do for
Borodino and hope you could add her name to the list of fine people who played for the celebrating of your wonderfully built gazebo.
I listened to the music and thought she deserves some recognition for taking some of her time to celebrating.
Thank you, and I really enjoy your web page '- D. Smith

ADELPHIA CABLE UPDATE:
Date: Tue, 9 Oct 2001
From: Ken
Lieberman
Subject: Re: cable
At this point both Verizon and Alltel have been paid to move their
phone wires. These companies are ready to do the work.
I am told the delay involves NYSEG. NYSEG has yet to sign the necessary
paper to allow the phone companies to work on the poles (joint pole
agreement). NYSEG will eventually sign off. These types of delays are
normal.
Adelphia is working with Spafford to locate a site and construct a fiber
optic interface box.
I would think Adelphia should be able to start to run their cable by
years end. The normal process is one year for the utility wires to be
relocated and the next year for the cable infrastructure to be built.
With this in mind, progress has been within acceptable parameters.
Adelphia may offer certain incentives for new installations i.e. dish
buy backs, reduced installation costs
I talk with the Adelphia regional manager monthly. He is under pressure
from his corporate management to construct the cable system as soon as
he can get the other utilities to respond.
Date: Thur, 6 Sept
From: Ken
Lieberman Subject:
Cable in Spafford
'My understanding is as follows:
Verizon was paid for their part of the job in August. They are supposed to
start the work within 30 days of being paid. Alltel, NYSEG and Adelphia will walk off the rest of the expanded coverage
area next week. After that a check will be cut and 30 days following that
work is supposed to commence.
Federal Safety Regulations dictate that the order on the pole from top to
bottom is:
Primary Electric
Secondary Electric
Cable TV
Telephone
So, we are waiting for this work, which is called "Make Ready" to be
performed. Make Ready consists of moving wires and/or installing new
utility poles to accommodate all of the wires.
As soon as the Make ready is complete, Adelphia may run their cable.
Adelphia has purchased the necessary materials and budgeted resources for
labor.
Feel free to use any of this information for your newsletter.'
