Newsletter August 12, 2003
SAGE members and friends are invited
to Barb Hamlin's home for a tour of her garden on Thursday,
August 21st, 2003 at 7:30 p.m.
Barb's lakeside home
is located on the west side of Otisco
Lake at 1335 West Valley Drive. A true
natural scientist and certified science
teacher, Barb has been gardening all her
life. She has designed and constructed a
wonderful copper archway trellis from
copper piping. This know-how is just
one of the benefits of renovating a
country home for more than a decade.
Come and enjoy the eclectic country
gardens from her lakeside deck, sip a
cool drink and discuss plans for the
coming year. Barb is our nominee for
2003-2004 President. After the tour, we
will discuss the club's ideas and dreams
for the next club year.
SEPTEMBER 4, 2003 will be our first
meeting of the new club year. We will
meet at 7:00 p.m. at the Borodino Fire
Hall on Nunnery Rd.
We will enjoy refreshments, elect
officers for the coming year and have
our traditional plant auction. Be
prepared to pay dues of $10 so that you
can bid on many fantastic plants.
DON'T FORGET TO BRING YOUR
POTTED PLANTS FOR THE
AUCTION!!!
QUOTE: "What is the use of a house if
you don't have a proper planet to put it
on?" Henry David Thoreau
HINTS NEEDED on how to deal with/
prevent mildew and black spot. Please
bring your ideas and information to our next
meeting.

PROGRAM IDEAS
Any ideas, suggestions or preferences
for upcoming programs? Call Joyce
Barnett at 673-9161. Joyce has agreed
to help schedule programs for the next
year.
Some of you have expressed interest in
seeing my (Susan Hayden) garden on
4601 Limeledge Rd. in Marcellus. I
would like to invite SAGE members and
friends to come on August 26th ,
Tuesday, at 7:00 p.m. I have quite mixed
feelings on this as the garden won't be at
it's best- not too much in bloom and,
with our soggy summer, quite a bit of
mildew, weeds and bugs. However, I'm
sure we've all been struggling with
these. I hope you can all come and see
my garden. If you need directions call
me at 315- 673-1313.
